Zweiart
is the collaboration of two North European artists: Marina Buening from Germany,
Maria Korporal from Netherlands, have been working and living in Italy for
several years now.
They have developed rather different ways to express their art. The sculptures
and installations of Marina Buening are characterized by the use of a wide
array of materials: from marble to paper, from plush to nylon thread. A lot
of her work has a distinct neodada/pop flavour with a touch of irony, but others
may open to an atmosphere of deepness and mystery. The underlying theme running
through all her work is the search for lightness, which also means lightness
of air-like materials and playfulness of themes. Her personal website is > www.marinabuening.com
Maria Korporal, on the other side, has dedicated herself to using the new media
arts for her expression. Her artistic production includes video animation,
digital imaging and installations. Her works have a strong thematic basis and
owe much to the artist’s involvement with culture and literature. The
peculiarity of her art is represented by the juxtaposition of different and
opposed phenomena, like classical literature and mass culture, or personal
history and collective memory. Her personal website is > www.mariakorporal.com
Zweiart first project has been presented in April 2006 in the historical Roman
gallery Al Ferro di Cavallo: An installation called > Interface,
which is a common term in the computer world and has become almost synonymous
for the linkage between two different hardware or software systems.
But in fact the term “Interface” has existed for over a century and means in
general the process or the method of connecting two units.
During the work in progress the two artists began a steady exchange of thoughts
and opinions about the project. They found it so rich and intriguing that they
decided to publish it on this website under > dialogue.
